A.nnotate 3 released for on-line and standalone users
The new version of A.nnotate is now available! It lets you add notes to highlighted text and image regions on a wide range of document formats (including PDF, MS Word (.doc and .docx), OpenOffice, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, JPG, PNG, GIF images) - as well as snapshots of any web page. Notes and documents are private - but you can share with colleagues by sending a link. Everything runs in the browser with no software or plugins to install.
See the Getting started guide for an introduction to the new features including:
- a new home page with email notifications to keep you up to date when someone adds a comment to your documents
- image annotation
- shared folders for private document management and group collaboration
- PDF export with annotations for high quality printing
- text search
- and enhanced indexes of notes and documents.
To try it for yourself, simply sign up for a free account - you just need a valid email address. There is also a sample document with notes which you can view (but not annotate) without registering.
As well as using the A.nnotate.com service, the software is also available for installation on in-house servers - behind a company firewall for example. The A.nnotate API lets you use add a document annotation component to your web applications.
